Description
This was a student project by Garrett Rubin for Jason Kentner and Parker Sutton's course LARCH 3940 in Autumn 2017. The Wakefield residence is located within Rush Creek Village, a Usonian Neighborhood with unique architecture and landscape characteristics. Dramatic change in slope across a site and associated dynamic hydrology are defining physical characteristics of Rush Creek Village as a whole. This project aims to either highlight or manage these characteristics at a residential scale. Using a low maintenance approach, the design is meant to elegantly redirect water around the home while using plantings, structure and maintenance strategy to create habitat and articulate changes in environment, grade, and program across the site.
