Description
This was a student project by Jeff Leopold and Yinying Hu for Galo Canizares's course ARCH 3420 in Spring 2018. This project studies the relationship between BIM software and the Cloud. We began by creating our own internet game with a cloud of BIM objects that the user can load onto the screen to create a spatial composition. Specifically we were interested in the misalignments and confusion that can occur when working in BIM and sharing files over the cloud. From the game we created, we combined the BIM objects into components, ex. stair + wall, wall + floor, wall + window, etc. and created architecture around them. The components create different spatial qualities depending on their state of open or closed, with their in between states representative of buffering. The final product is a spatial diorama which highlights the misalignments of BIM through moving components and ambiguous architecture.
