This was a student project by Lizi Huang for Katherine Jenkins and Parker Sutton's course LARCH 7940 in Spring 2018.
This project is to collect discarded plastic in Ocean and compress these plastic to form a floating island with plastic cubes. These cubes will be fixed through underwater constructions and be arranged as a circle. These floating islands could reduce wave energy and catch sediments which preventing coastal line far away been eroded, and the whole construction of the floating islands is called Water Ring. Water Ring is not only for offering a way to handle overwhelming plastic wastes, but also offerings sea birds,polar bear, seal, whale and other aquatic creatures a artificial and friendly environment to live. - Lizi Huang
