Description
This was a student project by Sally Doyle for Forbes Lipschitz and Paula Meijerink's course LARCH 4970 in Spring 2018. This project serves to challenge the current colonial narrative present in the United States by relocating a statue of Christopher Columbus and breaking down the pedestal that he is put on through redesigning and renaming Columbus Circle to Mni Wiconi CIrcle, which means Water is Life Circle. It serves to uplift and celebrate the voices of the International Indigenous Youth Council that fought against the Dakota Access Pipeline and continue to fight for their rights as native people.
