- Description
- This was a student project by Rachel Schmitmeyer for Andrew Cruse's ARCH 3410 course in Autumn 2018. The school is made of nine masonry buildings organized around a steel and glass core which houses the main circulation and play space. The classrooms are grouped around shared community spaces and, through window seats and a mixture of furniture, each classroom encourages individual, as well as group, learning. As you move deeper into the ravine, the masonry transforms from smooth, dimensioned stone, to rusticated rubble, creating an urban facade for High St. and a natural facade for the ravine.
