Description
Rubble Park uses a low effort and a less disruptive approach to the redevelopment of the decommissioned portion of I-59 in downtown Akron, Ohio known as the Innerbelt. Concrete rubble from the demolition of the Innerbelt will be turned into human infrastructure such as dams, paths, and soil stabilizers. This lowkey infrastructure will slowly develop and deteriorate as emerging pioneer ecologies and natural infrastructure take over and alter the landscape in organic ways. This will increase biodiversity in the downtown area as well as provide a naturalized landscape to serve as a backbone for the future development of Akron.
