Description
The hidden house resides on a sloped site facing a lake. Both the house and landscape are camouflaged with a black and white texture. The texture informs the function and circulation of each interior and exterior spacing within the house. The interior spacings can be viewed as nested figures based on the graphic with the box-like framing of the house’s exterior walls. The house’s private spacings are nested towards the inner portion of the hillside while the more public areas are seen as the house begins to “open” westward towards the lake. One of the section drawings from the Hidden House project was reconfigured based on the style of the Dutch architectural firm MVRDV. This project draws inspiration from MVRDV’s “Ego City,” experimenting with color, entourage, and spacial programming.
