Group Case Study of Junction and Englewood Neighborhoods of Toledo, Ohio

[BLANK]
Description
The Junction and Englewood neighborhoods used to be thriving staples of the black community in Toledo since these areas acted as famous African American business districts. This once-thriving area of Toledo and the adjacent neighborhoods have suffered from disinvestment and a decline in the quality of life for residents. This overall decline can be attributed to various historical trends that took hold in the late twentieth century. In our case study, we will explore the historical trends and events that have led to the disinvestment and rampant issues in Toledo's Junction and Englewood neighborhoods. We will be focusing on how these issues have caused a food apartheid in the area, keeping residents from having access to healthy or fresh foods. Based on the demographics and characteristics of these neighborhoods, we will then be proposing three different methods for solving this food insecurity in both the short and long term to provide access to these types of food to residents in the most equitable way.
