Description
This project explores the concepts of solid and hollow, and light and dark. For the thickened ground, I used the study model to play around with circular shapes, almost like scrolls of paper wrapping around each other. In the final design, I created spaces that look both solid and hollow depending on what angle they’re viewed from. For the volume, the words that inspired me were light and dark. In more of an abstract way, these words led me to create a structure that acts like picture frames, urging the viewer to move through it and discover something new at each moment. I integrated my ground and volume together by viewing my volume as a tool to highlight different moments in the thickened ground, instead of adding on to an already complicated structure.
