Description
Prompt: Design an art studio that accommodates multiple artists of different specializations as part of a new International Arts Program. The artists that occupy the building will change every six months along with the prompt the artists will work to respond to. Create a space that allows these artists to work individually, collaboratively, and allows them to engage with the public. Design Concept: This design utilizes fragmentation to lend flexibility and adaptability to the design. This fragmentation occurs at two primary scales. At the large/building scale the design fragments into three building sections that slide apart to create new interstitial spaces for collaborative work or community engagement. At the small/human scale, the spaces are composed of modules that can be rearranged by the artists to suit their changing needs within the studios. These modules are inspired by the proportions of the human body, so they can comfortably serve a wide variety of functions.
