Description
One of the problems of a photograph is what it doesn’t capture. Two of the challenges of the photograph that contribute to its limitations are flatness, where we can’t visualize the depth from a 2D plane, and frame, where we are limited to the view in the frame. What happens behind the 2D image and beyond the frame? Known for its orthogonality, symmetry and materiality, I have chosen to use antecedents from Louis Kahn’s catalog. I have chosen to destabilize it by piecing together these elements by arranging it, where the composition gets away from formal arrangements to visual cues. The images that are produced from piecing together these elements are a departure of the original image. It is unrecognizable spatially, but still has familiarity with the material tectonics.
