By the year 2050 the city of Mumbai, India will have the largest
population in the world with just over 42.4 million people. As a result of
overcrowding a family of eleven decides to relocate to Lavasa. This project
explores remoteness and seeks to redefine ideas about privacy in the context
of a large family while simultaneously integrating industrial programs through
the use of fish hatcheries and rice cultivation to allow the property to be self
sufficient. There is an emphasis on flexible spaces connecting the multiple
layers of the house such as rooms for home education and remote work,
adding to the theme of “remoteness”.
