The Palace of Platforms embraces the many communities of Columbus, Ohio by housing public programs and punctuating each with pockets of intimate space. AND The Palace of Platforms is a vibrant community hub located in the Arena District of Columbus, Ohio – an area renowned for its diverse venues hosting sports and concerts. This “public palace” facilitates social interaction and engagement through various programs, including a nightclub and a food market hall. The project introduces commuter train travel by connecting to existing railroad infrastructure which enables transportation throughout the city and beyond. While train station platforms are typically seen as utilitarian spaces, this project challenges that perception by transforming them into interactive environments. The Palace of Platforms celebrates the unique and memorable experiences that occur on platforms, offering a new typology for public interaction.
