Description
This project details my experience with the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) and my engagement with the agency through the COTA Adopt-A-Stop program. In order to make a personal planning intervention in the Columbus area, I chose to be one of the very first individuals to participate in the program and attempt to improve the rider experience at a bus stop near the Ohio State University campus by taking care of waste in and around the stop on a weekly basis. Through my participation in the process and interactions with COTA, I discovered challenges and opportunities concerning formal civic engagement between an individual and a public transit agency. The project details my experience with the set-up process, the maintenance of the bus stop, and recommendations for improvement to the program in order to increase the program’s uptake, reach, and impact.
