The process of making furniture is one that has been going on for thousands of years. Yet in modern times the furniture designer is given more to the field of aesthetics rather than function. The human body can make use of almost any object as a piece of furnishing, but to implement a chair as a ludic material as opposed to a long sustaining ergonomic identity within the world of man is a true challenge. As technology advances, the process in which form making develops can happen very quickly or at a snail's pace. The advent of Ductal Concrete in 1997 has allowed architects and engineers to take on the challenge of incorporating the super strength material into their designs and have pushed it to its material limits. Yet Ductal concrete has not been explored greatly in furniture design. I will design pieces of furniture that defy the limits of what concrete has traditionally been able to do.~root~>
