- Celeste Laboratory of Chemistry is located at 120 W. 18th Avenue on the Ohio State University campus. It is labeled as Herrick ID: PH 371. The Board of Trustees officially named the building Celeste Laboratory for Chemistry on April 7, 1995 after Richard F. Celeste, former governor of Ohio. The building replaced the Sawtooth portion of McPherson Laboratory. The Building has five floors plus a basement. The Celeste building has eighteen labs on three upper floors, twelve for general chemistry and six for organic chemistry, as well as laser research labs in the basement. The facility has a special lab for waste disposal and an improved ventilation system to filter out noxious fumes. Caissons to bedrock, steel frame structure with pre-cast concrete floor deck. Exterior fabric to harmonize with surrounding architecture. 1986 Architect for Building: Kellam & Associates Inc.
