Description
This was an undergraduate student project by Seth Schopis for Bart Overly's ARCH 441 course, Autumn 2004. This project involved Cross-Promotional Partners: A Civic Center for the Titans. Project description: The Columbus Dispatch, the major newspaper in Columbus, has proposed to build a Civic Center in the core of the city in order to revive downtown and make city living a popular lifestyle again. This Center will act as one of the major districts of Columbus (e.g. the Arena District) thereby heightening the influence of the Wolfe Family, the owners of The Columbus Dispatch. Within the new facility are major public pull factors (such as the club) which are heavily influenced by news studios that overlook the crowds. Although most of the media information is provided by The Columbus Dispatch, Bloggers (who live above the studios) provide their own version of the news via the Internet. The truth in the news may get distorted, but a hotel which overlooks both The Columbus Dispatch and the field of Bloggers becomes the resolution piece to the project. A person who stays overnight at the hotel is provided the luxury of knowing the truth by being able to view information given by The Dispatch and information given by the Bloggers, thus allowing a person to filter out false reports given by both sides. --Seth Schopis
