Description
This was a thesis project by Jacob B.(Jack Wolstein (1894-1983). In 1904, Jack Wolstein and his family settled in Cleveland, Ohio after immigrating to the United States from Belarus. He moved to Columbus as a teenager and enrolled in OSU's College of Engineering, graduating in 1917 with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture. He also met his future wife, Yetta Goldberg while attending OSU. After graduating, Jack first worked in Columbus as a self-employed architect, designing the Schanfarber family home in Bexley. Then he was employed by the Feinknopf Company. After moving to California after World War II, he worked for the Ralph M. Parsons Company, an engineering and construction company, as Chief Estimator. They had four children: Robert, Leonard, William, and Elizabeth. William and Elizabeth also attended The Ohio State University (see link below for images of William's student work). This drawing is housed in the Knowlton School of Architecture Student Archives in Knowlton Hall, The Ohio State University. It is one of thousands of student projects retained over the last one hundred years, the first student having graduated from the program in 1903. The effort to preserve drawings at the Knowlton School of Architecture and make selections available online for use in teaching and research was sponsored in part by the Graham Foundation. Keywords: Drawings, institutional buildings, school buildings, elementary schools, KSA, student work.
