Description
This was an undergraduate student project by James Nordenbrock for Jane Amidon's LARCH 457 course, Autumn 2004. This project involved a site in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Project: Capitalize on features of The Banks site with the elevational changes and proximity to Cincinnati and its stadiums, to highlight the historic bridge and Freedom Museum. By emphasizing the bridge as a connector to the city, a new light rail system will transform the site while creating a welcoming area for visitors - just as slaves were welcomed into the north during Civil War times. Wetlands and a connecting boardwalk/Education Center correlate to the existing educational use of the site as well as solve runoff and flood control issues of the proposed development. This work is a part of the online collections of the Knowlton School of Architecture Student Archives, The Ohio State University. It is part of an effort to make accessible student work ranging from the first student that graduated from the program in 1903 to the present. The effort to preserve and digitize drawings in the Student Archives was sponsored in part by the Graham Foundation.
