Hangar No. 5

Description: Hangar No. 5 is located at 2160 West Case Road and is Herrick Archives Number 235. Alternate names include Ohio Division of Aviation Hangar, Ohio Department of Commerce Hangar, Ohio Aviation Board Hangar, Flight Laboratory, and Hangar, Maintenance Shop, and Office Space. Hangar No. 5 is made of a steel frame with concrete block, brick, and sheet metal exterior. The General Contractor was Don Ward Construction & Co. The Ohio State University Board of Trustees approved the construction at Don Scott Field of a hangar by the Ohio Aviation Board. This building was to accommodate all the aircraft owned by the Highway Department, the Highway Patrol, the Forestry Department, and the Ohio Aviation Board. The building was turned over to the University in 1972.
