This is a student project by Elizabeth Schneider for ARCH 641 in Autumn 2010. The goal of this project was to create a home and garden for the characters X and A from the film Last Year at Marienbad. The design of the home and garden was based off of the interaction between the two characters throughout the film as well as a series of five cards which were analyzed to determine the layout of the site, garden, structure and program. At the core of the design is a wall the navigates the interior and exterior spaces of the home and garden and guides inhabitants through the site. This work is a part of the online collections of the Knowlton School of Architecture Student Archives, The Ohio State University. It is part of an effort to make accessible student work ranging from the first student that graduated from the program in 1903 to the present. The effort to preserve and digitize drawings in the Student Archives was sponsored in part by the Graham Foundation.
