Description
The project explores the vast amounts of existing, underutilized land that abuts a railroad corridor 'both active and defunct rail lines' and the opportunities and constraints that lie there within. The direction of the project initially started with the creation of a language set and guideline that would take those interested in developing this land (residential, industrial, and vacant lot typologies) through the necessary considerations and steps to progress a site design. From here a site was selected - an active and abandoned rail corridor in an underserved residential community and industrial core that sits just east of High St. and north of 5th Ave- and three typologies of recreation, community oriented, and ecological intensification emerged that drove the site design. The three programming typologies were sewn together to best capitalized on site specific opportunities/constraints and community needs.
