Description
(Inspired by Method Man by Mark Bradford, 2004) Our final interpretation took into account the ‘level’ ground that is the black background of Bradford’s work and took into account the collage art form and what that means in a landscape context – a post-industrial site that has been re-proposed. There are layers beneath the ground plane – pollution inside the soil from previous uses. Other layers are exposed for the purposes of extraction – an abandoned mining condition being re-inhabited by vegetation, the compaction left from the past railroad uses, and the footprint and skeletons of buildings that once defined the manufacturing/transportation uses. Materials: aluminum screen, design board, nails, foam core, plywood.
