This is a student project by Greg Knobloch from Autumn 2009. 'Mixed-Up' proposes a future architectural gateway to facilitate the connection between campus and off-campus student housing. The objective was to weld these two semi-segregated zones together using two simple moves. Through Mixing various building typologies and raising their structural elements Up, I was able to diminish the existing barrier physically and programmatically. The result is a porous architectural gateway that initiates a collision between campus and student housing; thus encouraging an intellectually and physically stimulating alternate zone. -Greg Knobloch
