Description
This student project by Drew Grandjean was produced Winter 2012 in Kristy Balliet's ARCH 342 class. Located at the intersection of Ninth and Main Streets in downtown Cincinnati, The performing arts hall is primarily divided two types of space. One is geometrically rigid and programmatically specific, and accommodates the performance hall and theater spaces. The second mass is much more yielding and dynamic; it contains the remaining program elements, and moves easily up and around the rigid theater masses. There is a slip space created when the two masses are placed against one another. This in-between space acts as both a channel between masses, and as a buffer zone between the communal and multi-functional space of the flexible mass, and the noise-controlled atmosphere of the theater. --Drew Grandjean
