Description
My project deals with the interaction proposed via horizontal circulation “stripsâ€. These strips meander throughout the complex to provide a more integrated experience between the building occupants and the site while serving as routes to various regions of the complex. When occupying these strips, one is, in a way, projected from the immediate façade, thereby forming a tension between him and the architecture. The diagonal axis on the ground plane serves as a primary progression route through the entire site. From both ends of the axis on the perimeter of the complex, one may feel an emotional overwhelm. As he progresses to the center of the site, he becomes more confident because of the increased openness of the exterior space. The building plinths, as well as the housing towers themselves, are articulated to surround the occupant as he reaches the center of the site, thus symbolizing a contrary notion of him becoming one with, or reducing the tension between him and the architecture.
