This student project by Jeff Anderson, Justin Turley, Hannah Lambert was produced Winter 2012 in Robert Livesey's ARCH 842 class. Design a Habitat for Humanity house with heavy spatial and monetary restraints and advance the project from schematic design into design development. The house is to be roughly 1300 square feet including four bedrooms and two full bathrooms and at least one bedroom and one bathroom must be handicap accessible. The site is Springfield Ohio, an area having faced much economic decline with many people living below the poverty line in dilapidated housing. The main idea of this project is to give the owner, likely a low-income family, a sense of agency in their lives and in their communities. Our project takes on the character of the 'Powerplant' in order to go beyond Habitat for Humanity's requirement for 'simple, decent, and affordable housing' and provide a productive, enabling, and empowering house. --Jeff Anderson, Justin Turley, Hannah Lambert
