Description
This is a student project by Erik Schmitt for ARCH 241 in Autumn 2010. Every shoe is meant to be used at a different speed. There are walking shoes, jogging shoes, and racing flats. I noticed that as a shoes intended speed increased the more expressive its colors became. I also discovered that there were far more walking shoes available to the public than racing flats. I decided to represent these findings with a very simple form, the cube. However, by repeating the cube form and using different scales I was able to create a complex system that clearly represents my findings regarding athletic shoes.
