Description
This was a student project by Matt Toddy for Jacqueline J. Gargus' ARCH 242 course, Winter 2009. Project Statement: The project was to create a residence on a given country lot for a client of our choice, not to exceed 1,200 square feet. I designed the Treestand House for a family of 16 avid outdoor enthusiasts, who enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, and generally being outdoors. The house features drawer-like beds that provide sleeping space for 16 people. The house features a skin of wood louvers which can open or close depending on weather to allow natural light and air flow, creating an ambiguity between interior and exterior space. The house contains all necessary amenities for outdoors men, including an equipment room, walk-in gun safe, and ample outdoor living space. - Matt Toddy This work is a part of the online collections of the Knowlton School of Architecture Student Archives, The Ohio State University. It is part of an effort to make accessible student work ranging from the first student that graduated from the program in 1903 to the present.
