Description
This was a student project by Zakery Snider, Spring 2006 for Jose Oubrerie's Honors ARCH 784. The main ambition of the project is to study cellular organizations to conceptualize a new building skin in which the materialization of the structural framework becomes a source for programmatic extension. Anticipating an increase in competition between agricultural and recreational land use, the hotel proposes that intensive farming and industrialized greenhouse growing will have to coexist near dense, urban locations. Using the program of the hotel, the strategy is to develop an organic food production resort, exporting its surplus to the city. The developed surface and structural system exploit local programmatic adjacency in response to evolving climatic and light conditions.--Zakery Snider
