- Description
- The Henry G. Cramblett Hall, originally known as the University Hospitals Clinic, is located at 456 W. Tenth Ave. (formerly 456 Clinic Drive). It is shown here as Herrick Archives Building Number 300. The building was also known as the Medical Center Outpatient Teaching Facility. Plans and related documents for this building were prepared by Dan A. Carmichael and approved in 1971. The general contractor was R.W. Setterlin & Co., and the building was released for use as of May 1, 1974, with full operations beginning around June 15, 1974. The fifth floor of this building was renamed The William H. Havener Eye Center in November 1991, and hosts the Department of Opthamology. Havener was the first full time faculty in the Department of Opthamology and served as the chairperson for 27 years. The entire building was renamed in honor of Henry G. Cramblett, who was instrumental in the 1974 opening of the clinic, dean of The Ohio State University College of Medicine from 1973 to 1980, and served as vice president for health sciences from 1980 to 1982 in November 1999.~root~>
