This was an undergraduate student project by Nicholas Gilliland for Jane Amidon's LARCH 457 course, Autumn 2004. This project involved an urban master plan for Cincinnati, Ohio. Following analysis of the macro systems and urban land types that comprise Cincinnati's downtown core, we now move into developing master plan proposals. Informed by research, the objective of the assignment is to propose a design solution for the Banks site that uses massive land form to recalibrate the city/river/highway relationship by choreographing the urban flood experience. The site proposal must accommodate both the seasonal river level (36 feet) and flood stage conditions (65 feet). The use of 2:24 x 36 sheets on bond paper along with a digital 3-D model or a hand built model was used to show the abstract understanding of the Banks site. -- Nicholas Gilliland
