Description
This site is on the boundary of the OSU Campus and includes Wexner Center and Mershon Auditorium. Wexner Center is an intersection of the campus grid and city grid. The design is focused on the transformation of city to campus edge. The art district is a transitional zone between city and campus. The Theater continues the diagonal line of Wexner Center and slightly twists to create a new axis point to the art department and campus main square. The two building also form a pylon, which performs as a wall to seperate the hotel and gallery on the city edge and theater department and art library on the campus edge and also becomes a gate to campus. Water is wrapping around the art district and acts as different function for the campus. In front of the oval, the water forms a reflection pool as a monumental axis. Then the water drops a level at the start of the whole district. People can also boat on this level and access different buildings by water.
