The Circus was first conceived of as an area for sports, but instead became a circle of town houses with three streets entering the circle. One of these streets leads to the Royal Crescent. The Circus facade uses different classical orders for each register. The bottom Doric register has triglyphs and metopes. The second register uses the Ionic order and the third register uses the Corinthian order.
