Die Magdalenenkapelle (the Maria Magdalena Chapel) was built on the western slopes of the river Elbe as a chapel of repentance in sublime High Gothic style. It contains the tomb of Francis II, one of the dukes of Saxony-Lauenberg, and his wife.
