The original Flamingo Hotel opened in 1946, starting with a small flamingo atop its sign. It was then remodeled in 1953 and 1967. The hotel was bought by the Hilton Hotel chain in 1970. During the 1972 renovation, the latest sign (a huge flower-like structure meant to resemble a flamingo's plume) was created. This 30-floor high-rise is located at 3555 Las Vegas Boulevard South.
