Description
The Fuel Oil Service Buildings are Herrick Archives Numbers 350/51. They were located at 304 W. 17th Avenue. The buildings were also known as the "Oil Pump House" (350) and the "Oil Storage House" (351). The general and mechanical contracts were awarded to Pence Electric Company and the electrical contract was let to American Electrical Works, Inc. Located west of the Power Plant, they were used in connection with the handling of fuel oil for the power plant. In connection with the installation of a coal-fired boiler in McCracken Power Plant (Herrick Archives Number 069), Building 350 was demolished and Building 351 was moved to a new location in 1985. This image shows the updated location of Building 351.
