The Geodetic Science Observatory is Herrick Archives Number 283. It was located at 2401 Carmack Drive on The Ohio State University campus. The field station building was the rectangular building. In addition, there were two prefabricated fiberglass domes, erected in 1972, which do not show on maps. Each of these was approximately 10 feet in diameter by 9 or 10 feet high. The one to the east of the rectangular building rotated on a track mounted on a concrete slab; the other rested on bare ground.
One fiberglass dome was destroyed by high winds in 1974, and the other was demolished in 1986. The building was expected to be demolished shortly after 1986.
