Description
The administrative headquarters of GSW was originally constructed in 1960. In 1990, the GSW held an architectural competition by invitation and chose the design by German/British architects Matthias Sauerbruch and Louisa Hutton. Their design was chosen because it recreated the historical line of the street and offered a "low-energy tower block". This complex of new buildings include a concave high-rise slab with colourful sunscreen elements; an oval structure; and two linear blocks that follow the street lines and adopt the eaves heights of the existing urban fabric.
