Die insel en der mur (The island on the Mur) was developed for activities in conjunction with Graz's selection as a European cultural capital in 2003. The 'island' is a metal structure placed in the Mur River. The form houses a cafe, bar and small amphitheater.
This view from the cafe interior shows that vegetation along the river banks and the river are still visible through the metal supports. Furniture forms, half walls and overhangs work in conjunction with the main structure by using curvilinear gestures and lines, providing a fluid movement through the area.
