Description
Katsura-Rikyu was built in the 17th Century as a villa of the Hachijonomiya Imperial Family. The Katsura Imperial Villa was started by Prince Toshihito (1579-1629). The estate contains the earliest known stroll garden and served as a model for subsequent gardens throughout the Edo period.
