Description
The Nelson A. Rockefeller, Jr. Park is named after the former governor of New York City. He and Mayor John Lindsay were the visionaries for the redevelopment of Battery Park City (BPC) in Manhattan. Nelson A. Rockefeller, Jr. Park is one of the many parks within the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy.
"Rockefeller Park contains most of BPC Parks' wide lawns, as well as a large playground, plantings and gardens, several public art pieces, and a sheltered pavilion." --http://www.bpcparks.org/bpcp/parks/parks.php#rockefeller
Cooper Eckstut & Associates planned this area (now Cooper, Robertson & Partners); Carr, Lynch Associates were the architects; Johansson & Walcavage (now Johansson Design Collaborative Inc) were the landscape architects who designed Rockefeller Park Playground; and Oehme, van Sweden & Associates were also landscape architects for this project.
