Description
FitzGerald Associates Architects designed the renovation for this downtown Chicago warehouse building. "Originally constructed by Montgomery Ward as the headquarters for his burgeoning catalog company, the Merchandise Building was converted by The Enterprise Companies to 241 loft condominiums in 2000. Parking is provided on the basement and first floors while the residents occupy the second through eighth floors. Two penthouse units were constructed in the former mechanical penthouse, providing panoramic city views. One of the first cast-in-place concrete structures, the entire building, walls, columns, floor slabs, and roof are concrete." - - http://fitzgeraldassociates.net/Portfolio/oneriverplace.html (9/27/05) Submitted by Aimee Moore for ARCH/LARCH 200.
