"Uniquely sited under the Brooklyn Bridge, this project began with a discussion of what may constitute marginalized or institutionalized activities that occur under bridges. The program was analyzed and then organized in order to create contrasting relationships between the functions of the spaces. The Gallery is pierced by the Nightclub; the outdoor performance space is carved out of the movie theater; and the studio and restaurant interlock to create visual connections and double height spaces. The parking becomes its own streetscape that connects the context of the site into the building. As one moves through the building he sheds himself of his car and engages in various outdoor activities. Light is brought into the dark site by passing through a pattern of perforations along the street"-- Jacqueline Abreo and Anthony Rodriguez
This was a student project by Jacqueline Abreo and Anthony Rodriguez for Beth Blostein's ARCH 342 course, Winter 2006.
