Description
California has had five Capitols in its history: Monterey (1849), San Jose (1849-1851), Vallejo (1852-1853), Benicia (1853-1854) and Sacramento (1852, 1854-present). Construction on the present-day Capitol began in 1860, and the building has endured for more than 125 years after its completion in 1874. The building has been located on Capitol Park since 1869s.
