Description
The St. Panteleimon Monastery is an important historic and cultural monument located on the slopes of Mt. Vodno in the village of Gorno Nerezi, near Skopje. It is positioned on a protruding terrace that offers a panoramic view of Skopje, Macedonia. The Church and the monastery grounds are the endowment of the Komnen Dynasty, namely Prince Alexy, who was the son of Theodora, the youngest daughter of the Byzantine Emperor Alexy I Komnen. This image was taken in 1970 by John Schooley, FAIA, during an Urban America tour. Urban America tours allowed architects and planners to visit New Towns and meet professionals involved in their planning and continued development.
