This hunting ground estate has been in the possession of the Habsburg dynasty since 1569. From 1686, the estate was held by Emperor Leopold I, who decided that he would renovate the estate. Various additions and reconstructions have been undertaken since Fischer von Erlach's work in the late 1600's.
